Volume Checker is a fast non-contact 3D measurement machine for volume measurement and digital comparison of chamber and piston of volumes of gasoline and diesel combustion chambers. Accurate and precise measurements can be taken with or without the valves and spark plug installed in the engine head. An engine head can be scanned by an operator on the shop floor by using three basic operations. A 3D scan of one chamber takes 60 to 90 seconds and creates 2.6 million data points as a 3D pointcloud. There are three configurations of the Volume Checker that can maximize the resolution on the measured combustion chamber.
Volume Checker software was developed by GFM for the Volume Checker to quickly and easily process combustion chamber volumes. This software was designed for production related applications by an operator for quality control as well as laboratory analysis for prototyping and R&D. GFM's Volume Checker software can make CAD model comparisons, measure radius and angles of section features, automate measurement routine, log all measuring data, export STL data, and has interface compatibility with different QM software. ction line inspection capability, automated measurement and analysis of several characteristics in one process, and a lab evaluation program for a detailed custom analysis.
