The DLP® Discovery™ 4100 Development Kits (D4100) are entry level kits that provide access to all the basic capabilities for users wanting to understand the functionality of a DLP platform. Performance features include resolution up to 1080p and pattern rates up to 32,500Hz. The D4100 Development Kits are based on Texas Instruments’ (TI) DLP® Discovery™ 4100 Chipsets. The D4100 Chipsets consist of the DLPC410 DMD Digital Controller, DLPA200 DMD Micromirror Driver, DLPR410 PROM, and Digital Micromirror Device (DMD) that enable users to digitally modulate, steer, and project light with speed, precision, and efficiency.
The D4100 development kit is available with the following four DMD options in the visible and ultraviolet (UV) range: DLP7000, DLP7000UV, DLP9500, and DLP9500UV. Each DMD is well-suited for solutions requiring high resolution, optical throughput and brightness. The DLP7000 .7” XGA DMD employs 1024×768 mirror arrays and is capable of binary pattern rates up to 22,727Hz/290Hz 8-bit grayscale, with reliable data transfer rates of 25.6 Gb/s. The DLP9500 .95″ 1080p (1920×1080) & the DLP9600 .96″ WUXGA (1920×1200) DMD’s enable users to reach binary pattern rates up to 10,638Hz/250Hz 8-bit.
The D4100 Controller Board includes the ultra high-performance DLPC410 Controller with a user-programmable Xilinx Virtex 5 FPGA for developing a custom application interface. The DLPC410 digital controller is compatible with user-selected processors and FPGAs offering flexibility to format and sequence light patterns. Designers also have advanced control of the DMD through random row addressing in addition to full frame input, enabling diverse architectures.
To aid in proof of concept development and ease of use, DLi worked with TI to create Discovery Explorer™ Control Software & API which provides users the fundamental tools to deploy the D4100 out-of-the-box. The D4100 has onboard USB 2.0 for transferring patterns from a Windows XP PC to the controller board, two EXP standard compatible I/O connectors for interface expansions such as the D2D, and a 4GB DDR2 SODIMM connector for advanced DMD product development.
