The Development Process
The design process begins by determining the system requirements for a custom application. These requirements include frame rate, interface, optics, resolution, form factor, and light source considerations. After the specific requirements have been established, DLi will custom tailor a turn key solution that includes electronics, optics, light source, and software control. Often times a custom board is desired to optimize the hardware and software for specific applications while maintaining realistic cost targets. DLi will work closely and collaboratively to establish a development schedule and deliverable timeline for project completion. By leveraging an extensive library of high-speed design files, interface and FPGA code, DLi is capable of maintaining tight timeframes. After board design completion, DLi tests the new hardware and can conduct comprehensive in-house reliability testing via DLi Labs to mimic real world scenarios. Once the development project is complete, DLi can be your OEM or manage your supply chain.
In addition to custom development, DLi currently supports the market with a number of DMD control boards, chip sets, and accessories that are designed to be used for everything from proof of concept to large-scale production. For example, the DLi3000 board is a production ready solution that provides a hardware platform suitable for many size constrained high speed DLP applications.
Custom designed boards contain key components that can be modified to reflect the intended application. At the heart of the custom design process is the FPGA programming. The Discovery™ boards are extremely powerful and versatile, and DLi engineers have extensive experience in programming the FPGA to unlock the full potential of the hardware and optimizing it for a specific application.
